Orchid Flowers

A Phalaenopsis orchid flowers for as much as 3 months at a time but is a slow-growing species. So after initial flowering it could be as much as a year or two before the phal flowers again. Phals are known as one of the easier orchids to grow at home. With the right humidity and care, phals can bloom over and over and even sprout new plants.

Within this genera there are about 50 species of varying shape and color of orchid flowers. The phal genera are native to Southeast Asia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Northern Australia and grow in the wild attached to trees and sometimes rocks.

There are many artificial and natural hybrid phal orchid flowers out there. A quick Internet image search will return many pages of color, shapes and branching. Some growers get really into the hybridizing methods in an attempt to create their own, rare hybrid.
